PUBLIC HUMANITIES
I am a practitioner of the engaged public humanities. As a second-year Phd student in the field, I love bridging academic and community-led and centered practices.
Through High Iron, I co-lead a living, traveling monument that honors immigrant railroad labor and descendant storytelling along the transcontinental railroad. With Re-Storying the West, I work alongside faculty, students, and community members to gather statewide stories that reframe regional histories and amplify marginalized voices.
My nonprofit design studio, Alces Community Works connects and uplifts Wyoming artists and storytellers through public art and public history projects rooted in culture, care and community. The organization is rooted in the power of creativity to shape belonging, spark dialogue, and build a more just and vibrant cultural landscape. Working statewide, Alces uses arts-based methods to co-create projects that reflect the lived experiences of Wyomingites while fostering meaningful partnerships.
Across these projects, I advance a model of public humanities that is interdisciplinary, place-based, and committed to justice in memory-making.
